Major Mosquito Cubs Win Seaway Shootout!

Updated Wednesday July 20, 2016 by Kanata Baseball Association.

The Major Mosquito Cubs fought hard through 5 games over July 8, 9, and 10 to win the Mosquito division of the 2016 Seaway Shootout!

The Cubs played in a pool of 3 facing Ottawa West and Gatineau's Tyrans Rouge. The Cubs maintained control for most of the game against Ottawa West. They gave up a lead to Gatineau early in the game, stormed back to take a lead after a 2-hour rain delay but couldn't keep up the momentum. Gatineau took a lead and time ran out before the Cubs could come back again.

The quarter-final round was a Cubs vs. Cubs affair. The Major Mosquitos squaring off against the Select Mosquitos. The Major Mosquitos kept control of the game and finished with the win.

In the semi-final round, the Cubs faced another OBA opponent in the Northumberland Jacks. The game was hard-fought and very tight through the first half. The Cubs maintained command for the final 3 innings, took a lead and did not let it go.

The final round was a rematch vs. Gatineau's Tyrans Rouge.

The game was an amazing display of pitching, defence, and kids playing baseball under rediculous pressure! The entire 7-inning game was played in 1 hour and 40 minutes. 3 pitchers with a stellar defence behind them combined to hold Gatineau to 2 runs over 7 innings! The Cubs forced 3 runs across the plate to take the victory and the Chamionship!!

Congratualtions Major Mosquito Cubs!!
